Human Resources Assistant (Dallas County)

About the Texas Organizing Project (TOP): Founded in 2009, TOP, has become the leading statewide organizing group in Texas, advancing racial and economic justice through community and electoral organizing. Our programs are anchored in the three largest metro regions of the state, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. We have a base of over 277,000 members and supporters who are reflective of Texas’ growing population – people of color, low-moderate income families. Through on the ground organizing, grass-roots leader training, direct action, policy advocacy and electoral engagement we have made gains in policy solutions and public investments in neighborhood infrastructure, family sustaining jobs, affordable housing, community schools, health access and immigrant rights. TOP also runs the largest independent grassroots electoral field operation in the state, activating over 200,000 voters of color each election cycle. 

Core responsibilities

  • Assist the Statewide HR Coordinator with internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Facilitate quarterly audits of employees’ records.
  • Assist the Statewide HR Coordinator with the recruitment process by scheduling candidates interviews, performing reference checks and background checks when needed.
  • Coordinate training sessions and seminars.
  • Assist with ad-hoc HR projects.
  • Support other assigned functions.
  • Assist with tracking and preparing for development conversations, ensuring development conversations are being memorialized, and all staff have up to date roadmaps to success. 
  • Ensuring that HR files are maintained and digitized to remain in compliance.
  • During GOTV, there will be additional responsibilities related to the successful execution of political field programs and travel required.
  • Participation in electoral organizing during election season on an as needed basis, including canvassing/door knocking, phone-banking & organizing TOP membership.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 1 year of HR experience
  • Experience working collaboratively on teams and coordinating multifaceted projects, a plus.
  • High level of independent working ability and initiative, ability to prioritize projects, and follow through on detail with high-level accuracy.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.
  • A demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice issues
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the TOP culture.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish not required, but preferred

Salary & Benefits: $50,350 to $53,000 or commensurate with experience. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, 401(k), staff development, paid holidays including a week-long summer break and year end week of rejuvenation, personal time, parental leave, sick leave, and travel reimbursement.
