Statewide Political Data Coordinator (Harris or Dallas County)

About the Texas Organizing Project (TOP): Founded in 2009, TOP has become a leading statewide organizing group in Texas, advancing racial and economic justice through community and electoral organizing. Our programs are anchored in the three largest metro regions of the state, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. We have a base of over 277,000 members and supporters who are reflective of Texas’s growing population – people of color, low moderate income families. Through on the ground organizing, grass-roots leader trainings, direct action, policy advocacy and electoral engagement we have made gains in policy solutions and public investments in criminal justice, neighborhood infrastructure, family sustaining jobs, affordable housing, community schools, health access and immigrant rights. TOP and its partner PACs have also run the largest independent grassroots electoral field operation in the state, running program in four of the largest counties.

Job Description: TOP’s culture is a highly collaborative environment that engages staff and members as full partners. TOP’s Statewide Political Data Coordinator is responsible for owning all political data in our core counties of Dallas, Tarrant, Harris, Fort Bend and Bexar year round to continue to build out TOP’s political program and elect TOP value aligned candidates in the 2024 election cycle. This includes managing and training a team of political data managers across the state to ensure the success of our GOTV program statewide as well as oversee all GOTV metrics, quality control and changes in targets, scripts or survey questions. Outside of GOTV, TOP’s Statewide Data Coordinator would oversee all data management, win scenarios and post election analysis. At TOP, we fight with two fists – people power and political power. Our political engagement is a key component of our larger goal to build sustainable power in Black and Latino communities. It is also rooted in the theory that the path to transform Texas is to increase voter participation in Black, Latino and other communities of color. We seek an experienced and energetic professional with community and political organizing experience who will strengthen our political fist at TOP.

A strong candidate will have experience managing staff, managing data on a large scale canvas program, understanding the political landscape of Texas, be solution oriented, and have strong communication skills across departments.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
● Broader and deeper understanding of Texas politics, political timelines, and TOP’s theory of change for Texas
● Build out win scenarios for each county & priority races we are targeting
● Create county and statewide universe for electoral programs
● Participate in any compliance or HR work needed for electoral program – including setting up necessary data tracking systems
● Create heat maps and other visuals for electoral programs and any analysis
● Supports research team with any data or visual needs
● Build & update target list as needed, notify field team, and make changes far enough in advance so field team can cut the turf from the updated universe
● Supports political team with their development on electoral programs

● Manage data for post election analysis of TOP’s program and/or municipal campaigns
● Collaborate with the other TOP teams to integrate and develop TOP’s political fist.
● Represent TOP in coordinated or ally meetings for electoral programs
● Assist with other duties assigned as necessary

GOTV Responsibilities:
● Manage Data Managers during GOTV
● Create reporting & stats sheets for electoral programs
● Build out and monitor all quality control reports for canvassing programs
● Coordinate meetings with Canvass manager or program manager to discuss and/or project any changes on scripts/questions/minivan campaign.
● Participation in electoral organizing during election season on an as needed basis, including canvassing/door knocking, phone-banking.

Qualifications and Competencies:
● Strong commitment to social, racial and economic justice
● Minimum three years of experience working in organizing or electoral spaces
● Strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
● Experience running or managing electoral programs
● Strong skills in VAN. Intermediate excel formulas for reporting and data analysis
● Data visualization and mapping is a plus
● Experience building electoral win plans and strategies.
● Willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends, to go the extra mile to get the job done.
● Willingness to learn and grow within the TOP culture
● Ability to travel regularly
