Texas Organizing Project Applauds Staff’s Creation of Union

Solidarity is a Core Value of TOP & Leadership Looks Forward to Negotiating an Equitable Contract

Texas Organizing Project (TOP) employees and management announced today they signed a voluntary agreement recognizing the formation of a staff union. The union joins the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, UAW Local 2320.

TOP’s mission is organizing Black and Latino communities to transform Texas into a state where working people of color have the power and representation we deserve. A critical piece of that is also ensuring that as an organization, TOP is striving for an equitable and supportive workplace.

“Organizing is at the heart of all of TOP’s work, and our leadership is proud to have voluntarily recognized its staff union. We know the internal organized fight for economic and social justice is equally as important as the work we do in our Texas communities. Our team members are an essential part of what powers our organization, and we look forward to working with NOLSW UAW Local 2320 on a fair contract that reflects our progressive values,” said Michelle Tremillo, TOP Executive Director.
