Demanding a Dallas city budget that invests more in the community
TOP and In Defense of Black Lives Dallas are demanding the city adopt a budget that invests less in policing and more on the resources and services needed to heal and rebuild our communities when they vote on Sept. 23.
On Saturday, TOP members held a moving block party through the streets of Dallas City Council’s District 10, which is represented by Adam McGough, chair of the city’s Public Safety Committee. We spoke with Councilman McGough, who is opposed to defunding DPD, about the need for Dallas to divest from policing, and invest in our community. Check out pics from the event here.
If you’re a Dallas resident, sign up to speak at this Wednesday’s City Council meeting to let our local elected leaders know that we can build a safer community by spending our tax dollars effectively and justly.

Calling all volunteers! We need your help contacting voters across Texas to sound the alarm of this November’s election and help them cast their ballot. Our mission in 2020 is to further push our state toward a progressive future that will shift power into the hands of Black and Latino Texans.
If you’re interested in helping us accomplish this, we’ll be hosting Outvote Texting trainings every Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 12:30 p.m. In these trainings, we will show you how you can use the Outvote app to turn out your friends and families to the polls.

Time is running out for the Census
The Trump administration is playing politics with this year’s Census, but we’re not going to let him stop us from being counted.
Go to my2020census.gov to fill out the nine simple Census questions in your preferred language. The deadline to fill it out is Sept. 30, just two weeks away.
Your immigration status does not matter; there are no questions on citizenship. Be counted!
