TOP to Texas AG: “Resign, Ken. Immigrants will not be intimidated by a fraud who thinks he is above the law.”

The following is a statement from Jessica Azua, Immigration Justice Director of Texas Organizing Project (TOP) and DACA recipient, in reaction to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filing a lawsuit Friday against the Biden-Harris administration’s temporary halt on some deportations:

“It’s laughable how Ken Paxton, fresh off a humiliating defeat after attempting to overturn a national election, believes he has any legal standing to challenge President Biden’s humane call to halt some deportations for 100 days.

“Then again, Paxton is only confirming what we Texans already know; that he is a racist, corrupt politician who does not hesitate to use the powers of his office to oppress Black and Latino communities to advance his far-right agenda.

“Under investigation by the FBI and entangled in a web of white-collar crime that has spanned years, we have two words for our state’s vile attorney general: Resign, Ken. Immigrants will not be intimidated by a fraud who thinks he is above the law.”
